IEE Wiring Regulations

17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2008)

Incorporating Amendment Number 1: 2011

The IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) are the national standard to which all domestic and industrial wiring ideally would conform. Although not a legal requirement it is a set of golden rules for electrical installation work and encourages best practice amongst the profession. The regulations are extensively referred to in health and safety legislation, which is legally required.

Plugs electrical services will install, inspect and test all our work to the 17th Edition of the regulations.

BS 7671 applies to the design, erection and verification of electrical installations, also additions and alterations to existing installations. Existing installations that have been installed in accordance with earlier editions of the Regulations may not comply with this edition in every respect. This does not necessarily mean that they are unsafe for continued use or require upgrading.

In January 2008 the latest version of the wiring regulations was published. This is the 17th Edition. It was then amended in 2011.
